New year, healthy you (and your smile, too!)
During this time of year, many people focus on improving their health. Whether you are starting a new diet, counting calories, or joining a gym, don't forget about your smile!
Just like eating better and exercising, dental checkups are an important part of a healthier lifestyle. Regular dental checkups and cleanings help protect not just your oral health, but your overall health as well. According to a study presented to the American Heart Association, people who receive regular teeth cleanings have a 24% lower risk of heart attacks and 13% lower risk of stroke. During a routine checkup, a dentist will also examine your teeth, gums and mouth for signs of other health problems. Several overall disorders and diseases show up in the mouth—sometimes before you even know there's a problem!
In addition to seeing your dentist regularly, maintain healthy teeth by making oral hygiene a priority in your daily routine. Brush your teeth twice daily and floss to clean between your teeth. Make your oral health an essential part of overall wellness!
